Meet Virginia and Kaira!
We reached out to Kaira’s mom, Virginia Lara to reflect on her teenage daughter’s musical journey.
Her mom shares, in the midst of getting her driver’s permit, and trying to attain a summer job, Kaira also has undertaken working with AVS vocal coach, Lina, on her voice and songwriting.
Virginia writes, Kaira learning music has been life changing because it awakens parts of her brain that she also uses in school and her other activities. She states, learning music stimulates her brain “in many ways, including improving memory, language skills, and emotional regulation.” Virginia feels that music can also help any child ignite their creativity and imagination.
Embracing Musical Challenges
We asked Virigina what she feels has been the biggest challenge and area of support for a teenager learning a new skill like music and she shares that it’s singing in front of others. Kaira’s parents have been instrumental in supporting their child in not only singing lessons, but in their daughter exploring secondary instruments such as guitar and piano.
How to Choose the Right Studio for Your Child
We asked Virginia what ultimately led her to choose Arabella’s Voice Studio for lessons for Kaira, and she said the two main things she looked for was a convenient location and personable staff. She writes enthusiastically, “Lina is amazing!” Kaira “came out of her shell and embraced singing to another level”.
What’s the Right Age to Start Singing Lessons?
We’re so happy that Kaira and family decided to sing with us. When parents ask us when the right time to enroll their child in music lessons is, we say that it depends on the child, but the benefits of learning music start early. The key question that we always ask is if your child is excited to sing. If so, it’s the right age to start.
